Opening of EUROPALIA 2019

On October 1, 2019, the international festival of arts EUROPALIA had its official opening in Brussels. The 27th edition of the festival is dedicated to Romania, the diversity and beauty of its ancient and modern artistic expressions and its post-1989 socio-cultural and political changes.

The event took place at the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR) in Brussels, in the presence of Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, the Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, numerous European representatives, and artists. The central point of the festival is the ample exposition of Constantin Brâncuși’s works of art, photographs, and documents, gathered from some of the most important museums and art galleries of the world: Guggenheim, Tate Gallery, Rodin, Centre Pompidou. The exposition, titled Brâncuși: Sublimation of Form, was also launched on this occasion and can be visited until January 12, 2020.

Over 250 other events will take place between October 1, 2019 and February 2, 2020, including 105 artistic performances, 84 concerts, 25 literary conferences and 30 films.

The event was also attended by Fr Sorin Șelaru, the Director of the Representation of the Romanian Patriarchate to the EU.
