The feast of Saints Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael was celebrated this Thursday, November 8th 2019, at the Saint Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, in Brussels. The parish community enjoyed the presence of His Eminence Jospeh, the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Western and Southern Europe, who celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with the priests and deacons of the parish.
In the homily, His Eminence mentioned the close link between the archangels and our salvation, thus emphasising the importance of this feast: “The feast of the Holy Archangels is one of the greatest feasts in the Orthodox tradition because the Archangels are closely linked to our salvation: Saint Michael the Archangel is also known as the guardian angel of heaven, while Saint Gabriel the Archangel, the angel of the Lord, appeared to the Blessed Virgin Mary, announcing the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. For this reason, many Christians bear the name of the Saints Archangels.”
His Eminence was present in Brussels to attend the music concert Romania 100 – European Culture, performed by the Transylvanian Quartet, from Cluj-Napoca. The event was organised by the Representation of the Romanian Orthodox Church to the European Institutions, together with the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union, and with the support of the Ministry for Romanians Abroad.
