On February 19, 2019, MEP Teresa Jiménez-Becerril hosted a dialogue meeting at the European Parliament. The event, organized by COMECE and Don Bosco International, was titled "“Catholic Action against Trafficking in Human Beings” and detailed the activity against trafficking in Sierra Leone.
Fr. Michael Czerny sj, Under-Secretary of the Migrants & Refugees Section (Holy See), presented the brochure "Pastoral Orientations on human trafficking", created in order to help organizing action in individual parishes and convincing faithfuls to get involved. Fr. Jorge Crisafulli, Director of the Don Bosco Project “Fambul” in Sierra Leone, detailed the concrete actions taking place in Africa. A Q& A session followed the presentations.
The meeting reinforced Churches' commitment against human trafficking and the need of spreading awareness regarding the plight of numerous children, women, and men in Europe and other continents.
